A CLOUD OF SWEET CICELY
Under the old apple tree in the garden we have a huge expanse of the herb Sweet Cicely, the soft leaves smelling like aniseed when crushed, and the seeds having a mild aniseed flavour. It’s a useful herb, the leaves can be used when cooking rhubarb to enable you to use less sugar – ideal for diabetics or those on a diet.
