CATERPILLAR
This vivid little caterpillar was climbing on theĀ old walls of Carlisle Castle. It’s bright orange and black stripes make it look like some want-to-be tiger but it is, in fact, the caterpillar of the Cinnabar Moth (Tyria jacobaeae), a red and black day flying insect which thrives on the otherwise poisonous ragwort plant.
